Newfold is a strategic partner with the North West Learning Partnership and North West Maths Hub 3.
As a Strategic Partner we:
Provide support and training for teachers, school leaders, newly qualified teachers (NQTs), recently qualified teachers (RQTs) and teaching assistants (TAs/LSAs).
Support the Schools Direct Programme
Help to support other schools
Take part in research and development opportunities.
In the academic year 2014/15, Newfold trialed a Year 1 mathematics project for the Department for Education (through the St Helens Teaching School Alliance and NCTEM) focusing on the Shanghai/Singaporean approach to mathematical learning.
Our success in increasing the depth of children's mathematical understanding through our tailored approach to the project led to a further opportunity in 2015/16 as a lead school to support the development of teaching and learning Maths Mastery in a number of schools in the Wigan area. This project is now in in its' fifth year.
Schools Direct is a response to what schools have asked for: more control over the way that teachers are trained.
Working with Liverpool Hope University, Newfold is part of the selection and recruitment process for School Direct Applicants.
We provide our trainees with a strong school-centred postgraduate route into teaching, with the added benefit of studying for a Masters level Postgraduate Certificate.
Schools Direct equips our trainees with the experience and skills to become oustanding teachers.
