Maths Challenge

Some of Year 3 pupils have been involved in problem solving activities to promote investigative work in mathematics.  Mrs Gibbons and Mrs McGrath worked collaboratively with teachers from Blackrod Primary, Claypool Primary and Lamberhead Green Primary School to initiate a problem solving day at Newfold.

Some of the activities that the pupils took part in were working on a maths mat to develop their skills in co-ordinates, ordering numbers, algebra and using all four operations to solve problems.  They took part in a maths quiz, playing 'Big Brain Academy' on the Nintendo DSI's and even completed Magic Maths activities.
