Welcome to English at Newfold.
"We aim to inspire a love of reading, writing and discussion, through our rich and diverse literary heritage. Children take pride in their writing; can write clearly and accurately and adapt their language and style for a range of contexts. Through our approach, children become confident readers with a joy of reading and love of literature. Their oracy skills of speaking and listening are used in discussion to develop their learning. We believe that a thorough grasp of English skills is fundamental to a high quality education and their future achievements."

World Book Week 2023
Once again this year, we continued to enrich our English curriculum by celebrating World Book Week. As with previous years, we hosted a wide range of events throughout the week, highlighting the importance of reading and writing in a fun way! We enjoyed taking part in Bookie Breakfasts, challenging ourselves in this year's famous emoji quiz and celebrating on the day by pairing up with our reading buddies from different year groups.
As a whole school, we also celebrated together by sharing the book 'Castles' by Colin Thompson. Each year group enjoyed reading this fascinating book set in fantastical worlds, and really enjoyed producing some imaginative pieces of writing throughout the week.
